Sirui Sportich Beyond 10x42 Binoculars for Wildlife Watching
I was recently sent some of the new Beyond 10x42 Sportich binoculars from Sirui and have been testing them out over the last couple of weeks. If you have been following the blog or my YouTube channel for a while, then will have seen a distinct lack of binoculars in my outings, however that is going to change now I have these beasts.
The most significant outing I brought the binoculars along for was my recent trip to the Welsh moors, where I was photographing Black Grouse for the first time. Priced at £189, they have a 10 times magnification making them great for wildlife watching and the 42 mm objective lens, along with some fancy multi-layer coating, allows for lots of light transmission giving you a nice bright image. The clarity of these binoculars is great, I first used them in the garden at home and was blown away by just how clear the image is. As it would be very early when I arrived, to my photography spot and thus, dark, they were a brilliant way or me to enjoy watching the grouse lek. I was hoping for an epic sunrise and golden hour, but alas, the cloud rolled in, but these binoculars preformed amazingly, giving me a clear viewing image.
They weigh in at 525g which is pretty lightweight when compared to other 10x42s, and you all know how much I complain about the weight of my gear. They also have really good eye relief, so for me as someone who is not wearing glasses, yet … I can extend the eye cups out, and I’ll be at the correct distance to be able to see the full image in the binoculars.
They also have an IPx7 waterproof rating and are nitrogen filled making them waterproof and fog proof which as someone who lives in the UK, where it is wet a lot of the time, is a great feature and I will definitely be taking these up to Scotland and using them on the boat in a few weeks time, where they will be thoroughly tested in all weather conditions.
Niggles, well, niggle as it is just one thing, I have found, that as I am taking the back eye caps on and off, and when moving the eye cups, I am knocking the diopter, and for me, it could be doing with being a bit stiffer, so I don’t have to keep making adjustments.
The set I was sent are a lovely black and silver colour combo, but you can also pick these up in a rather fetching green and black combination. The binoculars come in a really nice protective carry case, along with the neck strap, lens cleaning cloth and the warranty card. I chose to attach some camera clips, so that I can swap between a camera neck strap and a wrist cuff quickly as I personally, don’t like using binoculars with the neck strap attached (and usually end up just winding this around the binoculars).
So if you are in the market for a pair of binoculars then these could be a good option for you, and you can find out more information on the Sirui Sportich 10x42 Beyond Binoculars here.
